It was last March. A woman walked into my clinic wearing sunglasses.
She slowly removed them and showed me her eyes. They were swollen, red, and visibly irritated.
I sat her down in the consultation chair and asked what had happened. She explained that she had recently received a lash extension procedure elsewhere. Shortly after the treatment, her eyes began to swell. They became itchy, painful, and so uncomfortable that she could barely keep them open. She eventually had to visit a medical clinic for treatment.
Even after several days, the swelling had still not completely subsided. Yet despite everything, she told me she still wanted lash extensions. That was why she came to AURA.
At the time, her eyes had not fully recovered, so I strongly recommended waiting until the irritation completely healed before proceeding with any procedure. However, she insisted. In the end, I could not refuse her request.
She received another lash extension treatment at AURA.
A few days later, she returned to my clinic smiling. She told me that this time, nothing had happened to her eyes at all. No swelling. No pain. No irritation.
Why did this happen?
What made the difference?

There are three essential principles in lash extensions.
1. Use high-quality adhesive.
Poorly stored, expired, or inexpensive glue can cause significant irritation, especially for sensitive skin and eyes. The quality of the adhesive directly affects both safety and comfort.
2. The extension must be attached at least 1mm away from the natural lash root.
Extensions should never be attached directly to the skin or glued onto the lash root itself. Doing so can block the follicle where the natural lash grows, potentially leading to long-term lash loss. It may also cause inflammation around the eyes. This is fundamentally a safety issue.
3. One extension must be attached to one natural lash in a precise 1:1 ratio.
If one extension is attached across multiple natural lashes, or placed incorrectly, the lashes become tangled together. Over time, this causes tension and can lead to premature lash loss.
Lash extensions require precision and accuracy because the extensions are attached directly to natural hair. Even if the procedure takes more time, careful work matters.
When extensions are applied properly and meticulously, they last longer and shed naturally and safely over time without damaging the natural lashes.
Because lash extensions are repeated procedures, it is important to think not only about beauty, but also about the long-term health of your lashes and eyes.
When performed correctly, carefully, and according to proper principles, lash extensions should not cause harmful side effects.
Healthy Skin.
Healthy Beauty.
